Big 5 Global runs every November–December at Dubai World Trade Centre and is one of the most comprehensive construction and building materials events in the Gulf. For Turkish producers of natural stone, ceramics, façade systems and structural or finishing materials, it is the main gateway to the Middle Eastern market.
A stand here has to solve a problem other sectors never face: the exhibits themselves are heavy. A structure that safely carries tonnes of stone, ceramic or façade panel is an engineering decision that comes before any aesthetic one. Our approach is on the construction and building stands page.
Building at Dubai World Trade Centre: what to know
For stands carrying heavy material, floor loading, structural calculations and the method of moving the exhibits on site must all be resolved before day one of build-up. The venue's floor load limits and build-up rules are set by the organiser; we confirm the current conditions each edition and prepare the structural documentation accordingly.
On freight, combined sea and road transit takes 3–5 weeks. For a November–December fair that means production finishing by September or October at the latest. On the Granitas Yapı stand we landed 12 tonnes of stone on site this way, on a single container plan — the process is covered in our exhibition logistics service.
What a Big 5 stand has to get right
Building material buyers want to see the material at real scale with its real surface texture; a sample catalogue falls short at this fair. The right approach is to present the material as an architectural application: a full-height clad wall, real joints, real light. The structure carrying it should disappear — the steel frame is concealed, and the only thing on show is the material itself.
The 64 m² stand we built for Granitas Yapı was exactly that: 12 tonnes of natural stone carried on a concealed steel frame, with not one structural element visible on the stand's surface. The production side is detailed on our stand production page.
Timeline and budget: count backwards
On projects with heavy displays, the timeline stretches by however long the structural engineering takes. The ideal countdown: contractor selected 12 weeks out, design and structural approval 8–10 weeks out, shipment 6–8 weeks out, venue approvals submitted 4–6 weeks out.
Budget ranges: modular systems 150–280 €/m², custom production 350–700 €/m². With freight included, Turkish production lands 30–50% below Western European contractors. Frequently Asked Questions
When and where does Big 5 Global take place?
Big 5 Global is held every November–December at Dubai World Trade Centre. Confirm the year's exact dates with the organiser's official announcement.
How do you build a stand to display heavy stone and ceramics?
A concealed steel frame carries the load; the material is clad onto it like an architectural application, and the structure stays invisible. On the Granitas Yapı stand we displayed 12 tonnes of natural stone this way within 64 m².
Will floor loading limits be a problem?
It is the most critical issue with heavy displays. The venue's floor load limits and build rules are set by the organiser; we confirm the conditions each edition, prepare the structural calculations accordingly and submit the application on your behalf.
How long does shipping a heavy stand to Dubai take?
Combining sea and road freight, transit is typically 3–5 weeks. For a November–December fair, production needs to finish in September or October — a buffer that also leaves safe room for customs and site delivery.
